Got back from a vacation early yesterday and had the day off so I figured I'd go out for a little adventure. Feels like it's been years since I've caught a fish and hoped I'd remember how to set the hook. Only tried cold-cranking with a lipless and tossing a black and blue worm as I was too lazy to re-tie the Ned rig setup I initially had planned trying. I got my first and only bite within about 15 minutes of being out there slow-playing the worm on my lightest gear. The bite was suuper soft and I hardly felt it even with a very sensitive rod. Only reason I felt confident it was a fish was that I could see line moving sideways and felt just the slightest tension. After about a second or two, instinct kicked in and hookset engaged. Felt good to remember what a decent fight was like and was even more fun on lighter tackle. Fish came out at 4.4 lbs and had a nice little belly on her, I guess she's already been doing some foraging to get ready for spawn?
