Amazing slow activity so far. A few weeks ago went out not Even a bite. Went out Sunday and got 9 all slabs after previous Wednesday getting 4. This week Wednesday and Thursday yielded another total of 16. The bite just isn’t there in the spots normally hot for this time of year. Even the folks standing on the bridges don’t seem to be having the activity of recent years. I was figuring with the warmer weather they be in close.

Thanks for the report. I've been up there 3 times within last 3 weeks or so on warmer days targeting bass and trying out a new setup, I hit a bridge, a point, and a cove without a single nibble. Was thinking the same thing with some of the warmer weather but haven't quite been able to find them yet this year.

Man that's a great question, I bank fish about 95% of the time and don't pay too much attention to water temps outside of paying attention to ambient temps and understanding there's some lag time between the two when large ambient temperature swings. I know their are some online resources I could use (at least for bigger lakes) to tell but I rarely check them. I need to get me some sort of thermometer that I can carry in my backpack and test more. If anyone has any recommendations for this please feel free to share.

Hawkeye Electronics makes a portable hand-held fish finder that shows depth, fish, structure, and water temperature. I think it is called the FishTrax series. I have had one for about four years and use it in my kayak. It works pretty well, although it is hard on batteries. This time of year water temp is everything, and just a couple of degrees can make all the difference (so I just don’t think about the batteries).

The transducer is attached to a 15 or 20 foot long cable, and includes an adjustable float so you can get surface temp or as deep as you want to set the float. From the bank you would just throw the transducer out there and monitor the hand held unit, which is about the size of a cell phone. Pretty decent graphics. They have a good website, and I think there is even a simulator so you can see how it works.

Water temps at Jordan and Harris got over 60 about a week and a half ago, but have dropped since. I'd guess Falls got pretty close to that also. Fish are probably close to the areas that you fish this time of the year. Give it a try and fish just slightly deeper if you don't have success. The water may cool down some, but as long as there's plenty of sunlight those fish are not going to move very far when they push up this time of year.
