My son and I launched out of Lawson creek this morning at 0930, it was very cold and very windy. We fished until 1430, caught two short specks on 17MR's fished very slowly. Fished GULP shrimp, nothing. Wind was brutal, water temp was 40.2 when we started at the first creek and 43.1 when we left at 1430. I figured the cold front that came through this week would probably make for some tough fishing but was still hoping for the best. Did anyone else go out today?

Yeah I hit northeast creek off new river today. Same temps started at 38 and ended at 43 at 1300. Fished 17mr billy bays and xr6s with no luck. We'll see what tomorrow holds

Fished this afternoon, 7 trout 1 rock. 3 were spikes .wind finally laid down

Fished yesterday morning on creeks off the neuse. Caught 2 pickerel, 3 largemouth, and 2 short stripers. Never did find the trout. Sooo cold.

It was ridiculous cold! The cold Killed 2 of the 3 batteries in my friends boat but we made it out, did well for stripers in the Roanoke with jigs. When we were running up river at 30 mph I thought my face froze off, it took a while to tie up some knots afterwards.

Yep, got me thinking real hard about buying two of those "Save Phace" masks for the boat. My boy and I are about tired of freezing the hide off our faces during this time of year. Anyone use these? Recommendations?

They work well. For me the only drawback is it tends to fog up . They do keep the freeze off and in the summer keep the bugs out of your teeth.

Ski googles should be fine. Your breath is what fogs the phase. With ski googles you don't breath into them. They just cover your eyes

That might work but if you get up to speed the wind will get under it and suck it off your head. If you have a way to attach a strap, it could work.
