Durant Nature Park, upper lake fishing dock was pretty fun for the kiddos yesterday!

My middle kid (pictured) caught this...bluegill?? along with another, and 2 turtles..my daughter caught a turtle, and I caught a tiny largemouth (6 inches??)

Nice place in the middle of North Raleigh!

Fish_Fiend ...what does that fish he caught look to be? Bluegill? ..I am a cold water fisherman..trout, tiger musky etc..never caught panfish or bass much..

Yeah Bluegill by color the shape could be flier but I dont think they have the gill tag.

Looks like a flier to me. Usually in tanic water. Bluegill family.

Flier seems to be more finny from what I am seeing, could it be a shellcracker?

Durant Nature Park, upper lake fishing dock

Is there a new dock in the upper lake? I haven't been up there in a couple years - moved far far away to the magical land of Cary.

I don't think I ever caught a fish in the upper lake but the lower lake was very good to me. I preferred it weedy, before the introduction of the grass carp. Shoreline casting was almost non-existent in the summer but lots more habitat & targets.

more likely me being mistaken Jeff..the bigger lake has the two docks..that is where we were.
