I've been desperate to get into the small jaw brown fish, but the conditions haven't been cooperative. Well, they're still not cooperative, but I decided to work around at the Rec Park on the Swannanoa anyway. As expected, the water was exceedingly high and heavily stained, but drifting Rapala floaters along main current seams and then ripping them through the soft water near the banks produced a handful of stocker trout, a couple dink LMB, and my first smallie of 2015.

Really? I haven't fished down there in years, but if their's some hammer handles lurking in that stretch I may have to get my hep. shots and sling some streamers. Have you tried the area with a flyrod?
I've caught a**loads of smallies on the fly in the lower Swanny, but all the pickerel I've caught have been on hard baits in high water. And they were total dinks.
