Went out with a friend to Emerald Isle/Indian Beach/Fort Macon. Went to Fort Macon and water conditions were a bit rough but I only pulled in a sting ray. Went to one of the beach outlets where my friend, Josiah, managed to bring in a 26" red on shrimp. Saw some jumping no less than 10 feet into the surf but I'm going to assume they were running away from the dolphins . All in all, they're definitely in the surf.! Hoping to go out again soon with the actual surf rig. Funny thing is, Josiah was one of the only ones I saw bring anything in and he brought it in on his bass pole .

You don't need a "surf" rod or "Hatteras Heaver" most of the time. More fish in the first 30 yards then in the next 30

I'll definitely keep that in mind. I usually bring out my surfcaster to cast beyond the surf and then use my Penn Sargus 3000 to cast in the closer region.
