We've secured a 12 month rental at point emerald villas at Emerald Isle. Interested in any surf fishing advice for the area. I'm guessing the point is my best bet?

What's the best local tackle /bait shop?

Any and all advice will be appreciated. Moved in today

I will be out there in June for a week.

Maybe we can meet up one day or afternoon to fish.

Several years ago for a few years in a row I was near there in the spring (I think the house was called Gallagher) and could walk down to the point. I mostly fish artificial. I found on outgoing tide, I could cast into the cut and let the current carry my lure out a bit and then flip the bail and start reeling slowly while walking up the beach a few yards so that it would come out of the current. I often picked up a blue right as it came out of the current.

Coast Guard area is good for flounder on natural or artificial baits.

I am a little hesitant to answer the bait/tackle because of how long ago it was that I went to the CG road area. The last several years I have been further up. Anyway, back then there was a pretty good shop on CG road right after you turned off 58. If it is still there I assume you have seen it. Only a little further up you can go to the pier and they have bait and tackle, plus you can look at the board and see what is being caught. If you ask nice, they will let you stroll out and back without tackle and you can ask others how they are doing and with what. Or at least they let you do that last time I was there (2 years ago) and a few times before that.
Reel Outdoors has everything you need. If you venture across the bridge then Dudleys Marine is the place.

Definitely Reel Outdoors for tackle, but i get bait at Captain Willis Seafood across the street unless Reel Outdoors has fresh stuff.
