berger there is 2 falls lakes one is falls reservoir the other falls of neuse -i am guessing from you location you mean neuse.. i have fished it done fairly well with a lipless bait. a watermelon seed red flake trick worm dragged slowly. spinner baits in the flooded timber..
i normally fish between the hwy 50 and hwy 98 bridges.-this covers alot of lake..
Zooker You are right on Falls of the Neuse. Are you fishing the main river channel or in the coves and back areas. I have tried everything except lipless cranks. Don't know why I haven't. I would think this time of year the fish will follow the shad to the back creeks. People I have talked to drag carolina rigs in the main river channel. Haven't caught a fish that way. Most of the fish I have caught are on laydowns with a senko.
i caught a real good bass around the hwy 50 bridge only to have him get off -i was hot-some of the biggest bass i have caught there. came during the summer on a carolina rigged trick worm fished in the lay downs.
try the standing trees in new light creek prior to the road bridge.. i like this area...
Good luck, sounds like you like to bass fish. Not my favorite fish or my favorite lake, but when I have to fish it I have usually concentrated on the area from Upper Bartons Creek to the dam, probably should be working the area above the 98 bridge instead. The lake is supposed to be very good for crappie and has a decent bass reputation. If you wanted other types of fish, you might want to head up to Kerr. Bigger lake, less people, and has striper as well as crappie and cats. Also has a decent bass population.I have not tried fishing Jordan, but it also has a good reputation. Neither one is much over an hour away from Wake Forest, and I would expect you would have better odds of getting some keepers at either one of them than Falls. Falls is too close to the city and gets a lot of pressure, both from local fishermen and from all the ski/wake board boats.
