So we headed out to the New Bern area and what a beautiful memorial day weekend it was, couldn't ask for anything better. Had the family on the boat and no one was on the water except us. So this was our second trip to the salt. Well the first fish landed that day was a nice Spec at 20" caught on a beetle spin with a white and green paddle tail. Now what we were after was the reds and my best fishing buddy my son caught the first red fish for the family at just 15", he couldn't be any happier. Over all it was a great day for us all in all we boated 3 reds, 15,17,21 and a spec, plus learning more salt knowledge. And yes the one red ended up as dinner and i have to say red fish is an excellent eating fish.
