I love in-shore fishing. Ecspecially trout and flounder. I am looking forward to picking up some Drum techniques and hot spots for kayak fishing. Mostly I fish aroound the Topsail Beach area.
Have you tried the marsh channels behind Lea Island just south of the New Topsail Inlet? They should produce some nice flounder and some trout for a yakker or small flat bottom boat.

Especially after Ophelia. Hopefully she didn't fill in the deeper holes too much. AL
I hope someone reshoots the satellite photos of this area after the storm season. I have found the google map satellite photos very useful for figuring out the locations of the shoals and good water in those marsh channels back there. The pics seem to have been taken near or at low tide so they were very useful. I have managed to get my 19' CC into many of them that I wouldn't have tried without them (or someone in a flat bottom telling me about them).

I heard the Army Corps of Engineers are taking new ones but I'm not sure if they make theirs public.
