If I take my kayak out for sheepshead sometime am I better off buyin a few dozen fiddlers from Chasin tails or paddling to a spoil island, get out and find enough and then paddle to the spot? What are they about 4 bucks a dozen and 3 dozen would probably go a while right? PS I know we are at the tail end of the sheep season..

Paddle over and pick them up. Go on low tide and get all you need. They are everywhere and easy to get.

Thanks. So just head to the haystacks or that marsh behind the radio island ramp at low tide? Do you need a little hand garden shovel to dig them out or anything?

Garden shovel could be useful but not necessary. The marsh closest to the port wall usually holds them.

A couple of weeks ago I went out and wrangled a couple dozen fiddlers to do some sheepie fishing. Darn bait stealers got 'em all in less than 30 minutes. I was VERY glad I didn't pay for them.

Pinfish will eat them also as will other small fish.

They are everywhere.

Yep, pin fish and really small bsb. I managed to snag a couple of them.
