I have a fish grip that's only two years old. It isn't a high dollar unit. It's basic plastic that glows in the dark. I kept it handy by clip no it to a flat part of a skotty mount. I use it very infrequently but last week I needed it and it wouldn't hold the red drum I had caught. I called the company and they said to not keep it clamped when it's not used and that maybe leaving it open and in the sun would allow it to go back to a better grip. I asked what it was made out of and he said polyurethane. This being the case I just used some heat and bent the jaws back a bit. Now it's tighter than ever.
Just an FYI in case anyone else has this problem.
