We hit the North Topsail area. Started around 9:30 after the rain let up. Fished very hard and only produced one Slot size Red late in the day. Came on a Z-Mann New Penny paddle tail. Saw very little bait moving. Very tough day on the water.

Well at least I got a nice Sunburn!

Care to share what type of structure you targeted? I'm thinking of taking the yak to kure and it'd help to know what sort of areas didn't produce for you. Hopefully i'll have something to report next week.

We fished the creeks behind North Topsail without a bump Sat. after the rain. Finally gave it up and took the wife to watch the eagles teaching their fledglings to fly, That was priceless as we watched through a good pair of optics.

Today found, more like spooked a school of maybe 50 Reds.
No takers, spent 3 hours trying to find them again.
Wasn't going to happen for me. ..... ICM

Rough day on Saturday for everyone, it sounds like. Anyone know what the pressure was doing? I'm guessing it was dropping like a rock just by the line of storms that moved through, but I didn't have a chance to validate that.

To be honest, we hit about every frick'n structure there was. No bait, no wakes from moving fish, just a couple of Skates.

Not sure I have any business replying to this thread, because I have only taken one trip out in NC coastal waters, but it was this past Saturday. I had pretty much the same results as everybody else did. Didn't see anything moving, bait, tails, or otherwise in the marshes or the creeks south of Wrightsville Beach. Spent most of my time learning the area and navigating to avoid oyster beds. I did have one hook up, but lost it due to rigging error, never got the hook out of the gulp jerk shad and into the fishes mouth, left the hook buried like I would with softer freshwater baits for bass. It was Chartreuse pepper neon color and strike came on the outgoing tide up in a creek just south of Masonboro inlet.

Fished Saturday 11-6. From noon till 2 caught 20+ blues mostly on a 1/2 oz gold spoon. Caught a nice trout on it about 230 at the bottom of the falling tide. Lots of bait getting scared out of the water and lots of fish hunting on the surface.
Picked up a buddy at 3:30 and the tide had turned by the time we got back. KC had a nice Spec 20+ he lost at the boat then hooked and landed a 19" Spec on a 17MR electric chicken. The current was really moving and the bite shut down or we weren't getting our baits deep enough. Went to a favorite spot with topwater in mind and had one red follow a top dog jr for what seemed like 30 feet then changed its mind and bolted. Really got the topwater juices flowin. Only saw the one red so we called it a day at 6pm.

Dang ICM, is there a day you don't go? I am retiring at the end of December and then I'll want to be like you!
Hey Bob not sure my wife would agree with you on "I want to be like you...." part.

You better have a hobby or something you really like to do when you retire.
I don't consider it retirement it's "my new career arc.... " ...... ICM

Fishing, shooting, and I would like to be a "Go-For" a couple days a week. I have worked in some nasty industries, so I do not want to keep working and not enjoy some of "my time".

The reds I was on saturday were very spooky but I did manage to pull one 25" out of the group. They were in the exact same spot during those 3+ foot tides we were having on high tide. Bite would kick up as it started going out. Gold spoon was the only thing they would eat.
