I know this is off topic for this thread but all you guys seemed real knowledgeable. I have just bought a place right off of Bumps Creek. I am somewhat familiar with the creeks as far as their geographical location go just because I have studied the map but I literally have zero knowledge as to where the hot spots are. If anyone could help me out as far as hot spots for flounder gigging and also all kinds of fishing would be great. I have a 21ft Jones Brothers skiff...oldy but a goody but most of what I will be doing is inshore. Any help with hot spots, baits, or general knowledge about the area would be greatly appreciated. Also, any knowledge about the creeks right in the vicinity of Bumps Creek would be great...Anyone know if the fishing is good in and around Bumps?

Flounder gigging can be done anywhere up and down the ICW and the creek mouths. I wouldn't venture up in the creeks but just a few feet. Any bay off the ICW will hold flounder. Sometimes you can go up river from Sneads Ferry but in the summer it can be muddy. Flounder are starting to move out and back to the ocean for the winter but a few will stay inshore, mostly smaller fish. They will return in May with Sept-Nov being your best months to gig.

Trout fishing in any of the creeks off the river and the colder the farther back they will be. Any paddle tail, gulp or MR17 will work. Reds are schooled up in the bays and backs of creeks as well.

Not familiar with the name Bump Creek. Where Is it located, about?

Right now the speckled trout are tearing it up inside the creeks and main New River. MR 17's, Rapala Xraps 8 along with other type baits and assorted grubs and jerk shad type baits have been the ticket. Don't overlook topwater baits on those nice mornings.

Red drum can also be caught all over any marsh area and up the creeks. This time of year they do tend to school up into big schools. They can be caught on most baits including "square bill Crankbaits" like those used to catch bass. Check out Cpt Dave's facebook page on the action.

Jerk shad plastics, Gulp shrimp, Johnson gold spoon. Top water lures when it warms up to about 70 degree water temp.
