After not having much time to fish lately with all the working I've been doing, I decided to take the canoe out to a local creek for some gar. Well that was the plan, but as soon as I saw how good the panfish were biting I decided to go upstream into the swamp instead of down to the deeper water where I fish for gar. On my way up stream I threw a beetle spin for bluegil and warmouth and ended up catching a few dozen. On top of that, I found a nice hole in the shallow swampland and fished out 6 nice bass (considering the place I am fishing) on a zoom pumkin seed worm. On the way back down to the truck I fished cut bait and landed two beautiful blackfish. I was going to go back down to my gar hole but the thunder changed my mind. Loaded up and came home with a total of 9 bass, 2 blackfish, 6 warmouth, and around 30+ bluegil. Any day with over fourty fish is a great day in my book! No monsters but I had a nice quiet trip alone in the wilderness. Can't get more relaxing then that, the fish are just a bonus.
