I just got an email from a deck hand that I used to do hook and line commerical fishing with. They are still fishing and doing good. The closers/MPAs have not affected the hock and line commerical rock cod fishing too much for their area. Still no Salmon fishing. He it is...
Hey Tim! Hello from the other deckhand.....that is one big fish. I now have an open access on my old Glasspar. I take the kids out for perch sometimes. Cheap labor pool....I am going in with a friend on a 30 foot double end Monterey. We are going to pull a net around for junk fish (sardine, anchovy, kingfish, smelt, etc.). He runs a bunch of farmers markets. My stake is installing the motor and some rigging. The by-catch should be interesting. Hope all is well with you. We still talk about "Timmy the fishing machine" just about every time we go out. All the best, Steve L. / Marine Mechanic.
I read this and gave a good laught since that is what I'm referred to around here also. Those were good times and I'm building up the good times here. Attached are some photos while hook and line commerical fishing. I fished commerical salmon, near shore rock cod and califorina halibut. Here are some places that we fished as you can see by the photos there is not much beach. Just cliffs that go into the ocean with pockets of beaches here and there. A lot of kelp so it was kind of like bass fishing with jigs for the different types of rock cods.
