I rarely make it out that way, and dont know the area well. My first thought was Rhodes pond, but it seems it isnt doing so well right now. I havent seen it for myself though.
Does anybody know of any bank areas where my little cousin can catch some crappie or bluegill? Preferably within a 30 minute drive.
He has asked me a few times now to take him fishing, and I am hoping to get out with him in the next few weeks.

Cape fear in erwin is a place with decent access.

Rhodes pond is the most hit and miss public fishing spot I have ever been to. More miss than hit. There is also supposedly an alligator that resides there! I'd try the cape fear in Erwin as well. I've had limited success for crappie there throwing a rooster tail.
