Hello,
I am in Charlotte visiting for the holidays and I was hoping to get some fishing in. I've been out a few times with little success. Being from Utah I have little experience bass fishing. If anyone has any advice or spots that would be suitable for bank/wade fishing that is semi close to Charlotte it would be greatly appreciated. Willing to get after pretty much anything that isn't trout. Thanks

Best bet would be the hot holes. The Marshall steam plant has great access, but you won't be alone. The Maguire nuke plant has a discharge channel too. Just ask around, someone will steer you to them. Most of what you'll catch might be on the small side. Bring clousers, weighted zonkers, buggers, and small shad patterns. Don't get too far up the channels, the smaller fish tend to stay in the warmer water. Lots of panfish, so bring some small offerings when the Spots and Stripers are not cooperating. Stop by Bass Pro in Concorde if you get stumped. The guys back in the " fly shop " are usually pretty good about keeping up with what's working. Hope this helps......have some family in Sandy and Salt Lake. Good luck.

You can try Lansford Canal State Park on the Catawba River in SC. You'll need a SC license. Shallow, full of rapids and pocket water and fishes more like a mountain stream... but about 200-300 yards wide. Very peaceful. There is access from the official park entrance on the Chester county side of the river and quicker access from CLT on an unmarked dirt road on the Lancaster county side of the river (less than 30 minutes from.Ballantyne/Pineville).... IM me if you're interested and I can give you specifics.

Thanks guys, yea I went to a hot hole a few days ago and got a cat on the fly after fishing for about 7 hours. I also lost a few at Francis Beatty. Are LMB out of the question this time of year? Is the French broad or Adger lake fishable without a boat? Thanks again

You may catch some smallies on the FB this time of year.....Are you talking the Broad River or French Broad River? Adger has no bank access, it is privately owned with boat access only. If you are willing to go to Adger, try the Green River, it has some smallies.
