Buddy of mine caught a bunch surf fishing off Cape Lookout this weekend (and some nice overslot reds too)...so they should be around....

Tried last night at the point in EI, ocean side, channel side nothing, not even anybody fishing...Still nice afternoon on the beach. Slung metal while my wife used blue rigs with cut bait and shrimp..

Years ago, I stayed a few times in April (successive years) at "Gallagher", a beach house right near the point and the ocean side just outside the cut, right where the last breakers were, was fairly dependable. Kinda surprising they aren't in there yet. The April ones weren't very big but I enjoyed them.

Keep an eye on Bogue inlet pier's website. They have just started updating their reports. So far, no blues.

A buddy of mine caught 10 nice blues in fifteen minutes in the inlet this weekend throwing a gold gotcha plug. He was in a boat and might have been on the Shack side of the inlet b/c he had just dropped off some girls on the Shack banks. The blues should be in the area by now for sure, this time of year is when we have caught some really big one's near the cape..
