ive just recently started fishing there and its mostly trout and some muskey, if i were fishin for catfish i would catch some of them too , but im fishin right in and around Asheville/weaverville north carolina and was wondering if anyone had some tips or some stories to tell. anything would be nice, and are there any smallies in there? thanks guys

are there smallies in the french broad no, it is a horrible rumor someone started to have people open up new fly shops in the buncombe county area. if you are familiar with the msd water tratment plan and the craggy bridge area, you are right smasck in the middle of great smallie water. fish the big boulders by the water treatment plant, it's great topwater action. if you know where the new parks are below the prison, that is a great area too. as for muskies, I don't bother to fish anywhere but from rosman to the asheville airport, or below hot springs to the tenn. state line. occasionally, you will have a muskie take a swipe at your smallie bait, so be ready..

thanks man, and i live virtually in walkin distance to the treatment plant and craggy is in my back yard, lol.
