A little new to the area and looking for some good bank fishing areas with my boys. Preferably under 1 hour away.

there are a few good spots locally. Durham lake is a private lake out in Dudley they charge like 3$ a person to bank fish. nuese river. there is always buckhorn reservoir up towards bailey/ Wilson area. I live on base where do you work at?

Many small and large lakes close to the AFB... Cabin Lake ($3.00 a piece or under 5 years old free, or as I do...$100 a year family season pass). Maxwell Mill Pond ($5.00 a piece), Tulls Mill Pond ($3.00 a piece).

there're a couple cat fish ponds at the nature center in Kinston. After a day of fishing, you can also bring the boys to the nearby Neuse Sport Shop to check out the stripers, LM and white cat fish they have in the tank.

Or you can also travel further east to New Bern, I've seen ppl bank fishing the trent and crabbing at lawson creek park.

You can take 581 out the back gate off Base and go east till you hit Hwy 111, you have to go left or right. Take a right and follow it heading south 111 towards Beulaville, NC. You will see the signs when you get close to the lake.
