To escape the insanity....if you have a 4x4 head about 2 miles down the beach with your yak. There is a spot on the right where you can put in on the marsh. Should have some relative solitude there. Plenty of bait right there too if you're cast netting.

If you put in at one of the crossovers, be sure to check the tide as anything close to low tide is hard to get through the muck. Anything 2 hours on either side of low is usually okay.
Excellent point. I cast net some bait on nice firm bottom there during the high side of the tide. Went back at low tide and sunk in the muck.
