Got out to the surf twice this weekend.. Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.. Saturday we hit up some surf down in the Pine Knoll area... had a school of reds come through resulting in a broken line, a landed 30" and one that threw a hook in the white wash. All in under 15 mins. Other than that, a handful of sea mullet in varrying sizes.
Sunday I headed to the bath house in Ft. Macon knowing the dredging was going on in the inlet. It was worse than I expected. The submerged jetty I used to fish near was gone (under sand) and there was NO white wash to be had...what little wave action there was broke on the sand. As a result, two hours of shrimp, fleas and mullet washing around on the bottom yielded exactly one lost bait. Packed it up and headed in.. this was in the top of the tide and first two hours of outgoing tide.

The spanish armada was present and trolling the waters about 1/4 -1/2 mile off shore. Sometimes they were 4 boats wide! Saw two cobia weighed on Saturday one at 55lbs and one in the 20's.

Not much else going on... I think I'll spend the rest of my summer surf fishing West of the Double Tree....

I went out there too this weekend. We fished about 200 yards to the left of where the jetty used to be late Saturday afternoon and saw nothing but a stingray caught. I was changing waterlogged shrimp not even feeding the pinfish. Looks like the dredging has put quite a dent in surf fishing that area for a while. On a side note, we went to fort macon Friday and did well on sea mullets just inside the shoals.

Don't worry Ryan you wasn't the only one not catching anything. I was out there off the beach for about 3 1/2 hrs pulling spoons and bottom fishing on Sat with nothing to show for it except a gas tank on E. Went back out to Shack with the wife and Seth and nada for Monday also with the exception of small hogs and pinfish. Heard traffic on the radio and everyone was the same.

Had some friends diving in 70ft of water Saturday. They said it was 10-15 visibility and the water was 64 on the bottom. Thats still too cold for the Spanish run IMHO... The bait isn't in fully yet.

Saturday I went out to ar-315 and caught Spanish blues and Bonita from first light until about 7:45 then its just stopped so i trolled in front of shackelford and picked up a few blues but after that all i was able to catch was a buzz at shackelford. I did try for flounder both at ar-315 and on the inside of shackelford but didnt have any luck. Then sunday went out to ar-315 and caught nothing but saw hundreds of bottle nose dolphin so I figured they had to of had something to do with it maybe they were eatin the Spanish or something
