Not my biggest Bowfin(my biggest is 14 lb and had a good 17lber come off last year) butthis Bowfin may be my "best" battle. I have not targeted bowfin this year but will soon as the other types of fishing are getting sloooooooow.

I really thought I was hung up with this one early this year but then the line started moving.........

Enjoy.......

Great job! I was actually having dreams about bowfin the other night. So this morning I got to the creek with some large shiners, caught a 3’ gar in short order but not another bite all morning. Still fun though. What’s weird is I usually catch way more bowfin than gar, but so far this year I have caught more gar than any other fish and have yet to catch a bowfin since Halloween

Great video and great catch. Not sure I could have landed him that way - those things still scare me.

With all their attitude, I’m surprised the fish didn’t slap you upside your head for disrespecting him with that 2lb line!

Thanks.

that rod is my rod that 95 percent of the time is dedicated to throwing trout magnets. So I call it my Trout Magnet outfit. you really need 2 lb line to throw Trout magnets . 4 lb is ok and 6 does terrible with them but Trout Magnets work the best with 2 lb line. great lures for trout but also bream , crappie etc
Here are some Bream on the Trout Magnet

Nice catch! I love that you never even took the plastic off the rod butt, I had one like that for 2 years and the plastic eventually came off. Great bowfin!
