Had a really decent day yesterday fishing in the North Creek and Bayview ferry area. In 2 1/2 hours, I caught 15 trout (3 of which were legal keepers 17-18 inches), 2 bluefish, and 2 flounder (1 of which would have been legal if we were in season). Only bait I used was a 1/8 ounce Gama jig head and a 4 inch Gulp chartreuse swimming mullet. Creeks still loaded up with grass, so I concentrated on the creek mouths. Water temp was 72-73 degrees with visibility about 3 feet. Most fish caught were in 2-5 feet of water. High river salinity.

I fished the same places earlier in the week and caught 2 keeper flounder (again, if in season). One was 17 inches and the other was 18 inches. Thick fish! I returned both fish to the river ‘cuz it was the right thing to do. About 30 minutes later a very nice Marine Patrol Officer stopped by to visit.

Thanks Chris for the awesome report! Glad you did well, I am in Belhaven area, it has been crazy windy this week. Hope to get on the water this weekend. By the way, how do you tell the water salinity, by tasting it? :)

LOL!!! Actually, yes— with the wind we have had I got a good blast of the river in my face from the spray off the bow! Not on purpose of course.

Amazing how Mr. Green Jeans has a way of popping up in the most unexpected places. Regardless, looks like you had a good day of fishing, Chris. We're planning on hitting Swanquarter on Sunday. Wind is supposed to lay over and temps look decent. Not sure how we'll do after all this wind mixing things up but I'll post once I have time.
