I had my CI4 3000 on a St Croix Avid 7' VIS70MF but I never thought it casted all that well. I just switched it over to a Star Seagis split grip 6'6" 6-14lb rating (SK614FT66G) and I love it. I really wanted the full grip but my local shop (Dave's Outpost in Sunset Beach) was out of them and said it would take 6 weeks to get b/c of the shortage of rods and tackle so I went with the split they had in stock. I primarily wanted a really light setup for topwater and throwing soft plastics and I think this is a great setup for that. I put a Stradic 3000FJ on the St Croix and it casts a mile and I really like that setup as well. I've got both of those reels strung with 15" PowerPro. I ended up going with the Seagis 6'6" after talking to one of the local guides, he gave me some good advice about pairing. He also touted the Star over-the-counter warranty as did the folks at Dave's. For $150 I'd give the Seagis a hard look.
