Finally got a tom after a 2 year dry streak. It and 2 others where gobbling their head's off this morning, with another young buck trying his best. A group of 4 hens drug them right past me at about 30 yards. Dad and I were trying to get a double this morning, but the other 2 only had beards about 6" or so. Since dad had already punched 1 tag earlier this week he opted to let them grow. This one was starting to get wise to us, and was turning to leave the grain field, so I let the 870 roar as soon as he stuck his head out. Tale of the tape is a 9" beard with 7/8" spurs. Not a super mature bird, but one in the hand and all that....
