On Saturday the 29th, the Jaw Jacker's Bass Club held their annual Bass tournament. I could not fish today so I went to the weigh-in. To my surprise, there was a large number of bass weighed in. There were only 13 boats entered, I'm sure the driving rain and cold temperatures had alot to do with the number of entries. When the competitors came in to weigh I witnessed 6 bass over 5lbs, 3 over 6lbs and a massive 10lb. 5oz lunker. The water temp was 56 degrees. It was a great pleasure to see these kind of results after such a dry summer with such low water levels. Looks like the fish are healthy in Greensboro.

i've always caught a lot of fish there on a carolina rig.the lake is just one big stump field.the deep bank directly across from the marina has a lot of nice lay downs that hold fish year round.but crankbaits and spinnerbaits are sure fire killers out there as well.when the water warms, try carolina rigged lizards on the humps.i've caught some of my best fish on the one about 200 yds from the right side of the marina and west of there.be careful and watch your graph,it comes up real fast.i love brandt, and if you'll try the carolina rig i feel confident you'll catch some good'uns!
good luck,
jerry

Stumps and spinnerbaits go hand in hand, when the weather turns back to warm again check it out with a spinnerbat.

If that doesn't produce check your electronics on lake points or humps and cast like jerry c. said, carolina rigs.

Those are some great numbers. I've been fishing Brandt for the last three years and I've never been able to pull anything out of there over two and half pounds. I was starting to believe the lake was on the decline.

believe me,guys, the big 'uns are there!one of my fave spots is a small island down the left side of the lake.fish a c rig around the front side just out from an old duck blind.i've caught a lot of nice fish there.also, don't forget the points on the left going toward the island,as well.but my first stop would be a remnant of a blind only about 100 yds down on the left.there's a small ridge with stumps running out about 35 tds, starting just in front of the old blind.that is where i caught a 7 and a five on 2 casts three years ago.try these places,i think you'll be impressed.

Back to Lake Brandt today trying out my new FishEasy 320c. Sure made it a lot of fun eventhough I didn't hook up with the big one! Tried the end of the island and the blinds, didn't have much luck but I did see a fellow in a boat next to me haul in a whopper bass. Right off the rocks that separate the boat area from the lake, next to the pier. Biggest bass I've seen in person, waiting for my turn :)
