Heard about the site from a friend, I love to fish the coast but not very good at it. Im going to carolina beach 6/10/07-6/17/07 and plan to fish hard enough to make a snake stick his head in a lava pit. I usually dont catch very many fish, just enough for a mess or two. Using store bought rigs and cut bait, locating holes off the surf. I usually fish Freeman Park for easier access but I seem to catch more when I fish south of the pier.
Any advice on tackle, bait, holes etc would be appreciated.

I don't know much about snakes & less about lava pits, but I hope you tear 'em up! My Carolina beach experience is limited to 1 ribbonfish in the intercoastal. Nasty looking bugger. 'bout sent me running back to the freshwater. Bought my saltwater tackle at the Ace HW in town. Wish I could be more help, but I know there are folks out here who know what they're doing down that way...

Well the beach trip went well, except for fishing. I fished hard for 6 days, only caught 5 small shark, maybe 11 inches long. Nothing else. Came home, took my canoe to the pee dee, had a hole in canoe, but caught some nice cats. Pluged hole with a fishing cork. Worked ok but still leaked. Hope you guyes have better luck than I do.

I finally got around to post up a couple of surf fishing how to's . Just the basics but you might have found some of interesting. I don't know. The fishing has been off down that way lately so don't be too hard on yourself.

About the size of a penny. Stuck about a 5/8 of an inch round and 3 inch long red & white cork in it.

Duct (Duck?) tape works better then a cork! Your adventure sounds like one of mine.
