Halloween was very good to the wife and I yesterday!
My old Explorer was long in the tooth and ugly as "fartin' in church" so a few weeks ago I sold it. That meant I was truckless and pulling the boat with my wifes Taurus since there was no way my little Hyundai would do it! LOL..
I've been shopping, but didn't want another payment so it had to be nice enough to replace my 05 Hyundai which only had 22k.. But not increase my payment too much. It took alot of haggling, and I even walked out on a few dealers because they kept playing games ( not uncommon) but yesterday I found far more truck than I thought I could buy, a pretty well loaded 04 Silverado 4x2.. I looked at it 2 weeks ago and the salesman's # just didn't fit. I went by yesterday and found a Dodge that was more truck then needed 4x4 lifted etc but the $$ fit. I feared its longevity and decided to regroup. I overheard the sales manager ( sound carries so well in some offices..LOL) telling some guys they really needed to close 2 deals for the end of month to get their big bonus and they didn't have anything pending so it wasn't looking good.
( It was time to act!!)
I went straight up to the sales manager, told him I wanted the Silverado, what I would do, and what I expected for that deal... bottom line! He punched buttons and made phone calls for the next 20 minutes and got VERY close so with a full tank of gas, 2 free service coupons, a receiver for the hitch and a handshake I was on my way!! ADIÓS Hyundai! I feel masculine again!!!!!!!!! LOL!!
Now the wifes 02 Taurus is at the point where you get rid of it at a fair price, or you commit to drive it to death at any cost, and I knew she wanted to trade as well. It just so happens that when I paid my tax/tags I left my debit card there... When my wife got home we checked the messages and had one saying i left the card so we hopped in my truck and went to get it...
Lo and Behold!! She spotted the car she has wanted for a long time as we drove through the lot ( Honda Element).. It was 4pm they close at 7 and when I went in to get the card I said "good luck on that final sale for the bonus!" to which he replied.. "Not looking too good right now I'm afraid. Deal just fell through on the only other one we had today and with it being Halloween everyones is home with the kids..."
( Time to set the hook!!..LOL) I said, what ya got on that Honda, I know somebody that likes those things.. He gave me a price. A bit more than I had in mind but in the ballpark and fair according to my research online..
I said, if I can sell it today would you let someone steal it?? He said bring em on!
Went home, got her car, got a great trade in and a great price, good interest, a tank of gas and service coupons...
Looks like we moved away when you look in the yard..LOL!!!
Now I have to wash and wax the boat!!
Heres my truck........ I'll get pics of hers tonight.....
