Hi

My name is James. I have been an avid freshwater fisherman for many years. Mainly fishing for Catfish and Strippers in the Piedmont lakes. Just ordered a new 20' skiff that will be in soon and hoping to get to the coast around Morehead a couple of times this summer. I have never fished the bays from a boat and any info would be appreciated. Thanks for your help.

WELCOME ABOARD JAMES!

I've got a few tips for you and all boaters in the marine environment. Mostly just reminders of what you already know really. I'll leave the fishing and navigation to the guys in the Morehead area.
1. ALWAYS get a weather report before you leave.
2. ALWAYS keep an eye on the weather and tide and act accordingly
3. Let someone that you trust know what area you are going to and when you will check in with them.you should have a "Call the coast guard plan".
4. ALWAYS check boats safety systems before departure.
5. pay special attention to your electrial and fuel systems saltwater is very corrosive.
