Hi All,

I will be doing some kayaking fishing in Murrell's Inlet tomorrow morning and would love to hear your suggestions for what kind of rigs, baits, and lures I should be using. I'd like to have one similar to a carolina rig where I can troll it, and one that I can cast and retrieve.

I have done finger mullet before, and some soft plastic gulps on jigs.
Considering trying a popping cork.

I will be getting close to the jetty.

So folks, what are you favorite rigs, favorite lures?

Gulp Shrimp and Gulp Swimming mullet from what I hear are versatile baits that out perform all other plastics with their scent trail formula. They are expensive but work from what research I have done and from experience. Even bait fish hit these like a piece of cut bait.(which sucks when they take a chunk out of it.) Id fish it on a jig with a loop knot.

I think trolling a Carolina rig would snag a lot. But I always seem to find something to snag on.

Hope I didn't give you any information that you didn't already have! Another forum member told me a good top water makes a great search bait for fish but that was in relation to marshes and creeks, not inlets and jetties. Maybe a good casting spoon?

Great success this weekend! It was too rough for topwater, though I did try a popping cork rig for a while. All of my success came using mud minnows on a carolina rig. Caught 6 fish, all different kinds. Biggest two were flounder and a weakfish that was about 18" maybe two lbs.
