Welcome to the party! I plan to hit Buggs Island soon for some cattin" myself. Never been up there on a boat so looking forward to it!! I was always stuck on Nutbush bridge..

Welcome! I've been thinking about heading up that way myself for some cattin also. Heard nothing but great things about that area.

Sundrop, I have good memories on Nutbush!

I gave up on Nutbush bridge when people started getting stupid. I got showered with broken glass when some drunks tossed a big beer bottle (I assume at me) as they sped across the bridge about 4 am one weekend.

Never had anything bad happen but there are plenty crazy people out there...

I spent a lot of time at Nutbush. Most of it was several years back when I was water skiing, but got into fishing there later.
I have heard things hit that bridge when I was close enough to it that had to have come from passing vehicles.

On a funny note I've also seen some interesting casting accidents with passing motorists on Nutbush. A guy with a surf rod swung back to cast as a bigrig came by. Truck grabbed the rig which I guess was wrapped or just the speed and it snapped the rod in half. Trucker stopped with a 2 hook rig and 1/2 a rod wrapped up in his mirror.

I would think that there would be a lot of things to happen on that bridge. By the way, not sure if it still happens, but the water level has gotten high enough to go over the top of that bridge, and boat had to cross over it.

I also guide for cats, if anyone is interested. I fish all over the lake but some of the best cattin is on the upper end where the rivers come in. But my two biggest, a 50 an a 61 pounder came from within site of the dam. both of these were caught in the winter. seems the biggest ones bite better when the waters cold. we caught 15 blue cats last wk trollin a 3 way rig rite belo the bridges at Clarksville. them blues slam a plug harder than any fish I've caught!

If ya want to learn anything about Buggs Island, or Mayo, Hyco, Reidsville, Smith Mountain, Philpott, ..................... Keith is the man to hook up with.

I never would have guessed he was only 64 yrs old though.

Hey Fishdoc! I remember you from the Kerr Lake board when I lived in Henderson a several years ago. Folks, the Fishdoc is pretty famous around that area of the state, and a #1 crackerjack, grade A crappie fisherman!

I think I know the name from Catfish1.com forums or Crappie.com.
