Can anyone tell me when the Hickory shad will start their runs? I thought about putting in at Weldon or maybe Halifax. Thanks

The Neuse will probably be starting up within 3 weeks. As far as weldon that likely won't be getting hot til april.

You might want to join the NC-Shad public group on Facebook. The group is quite active with near constant updates on all the NC river systems with Shad runs. Cape Fear, Neuse, Pamlico/Tar, and Roanoke as well as tributaries. OH

I have caught them as early as Valentine's Day in Weldon but a safer bet is March. There will be a few picked up here and there in all the rivers but by March its hoping in most rivers
