The William Huske lock and dam near Fayetteville would be the first as you go down the Cape Fear, then Lock/Dam #2 in Elizabethton the Lock/dam #1 in Riegelwood
The Cape Fear river isn't anywhere near Wallace.
I think you are mistaking the Northeast Cape Fear for the Cape Fear.
There are no locks on the Northeast Cape Fear.
These are two entirely different rivers that come together at Wilmington.
I had a while to think about it. This same question from the same person showed up on another thread a couple of days ago.
I sat there thinking there is a couple of towns in between and closer to the Cape Fear than Wallace.
Fired up the Google Urf and took a peakaboo.
Yeah, I was on google earth for 15 minutes trying to figure out what he was talking about and how far NE Cape Fear was and how the Cape Fear could go through Fayetteville, Elizabethton and Wallace.
No locks or anything to impede traffic on the NE Cape Fear. If you are planning on going inland, up river, you best go now. As it gets warmer the water gets lower and tough once you past Chinquapin ramp area. Lots of sandbars, you make make it to Hwy 24 but not much farther. I went across today near Sarecta and boy is she low, root clinging low.
