Every time I think I know what I'm doing, the fish quickly remind me that I don't know squat! Fishing is a very humbling sport! I guess that's what keeps me going after them!

 

Call me old-fashioned!! But springtime I downsize my bait, sometimes I use the medium fat-free shad white or crawdad color..When that don't work!! I slow roll a black buzz bait!! Spring means lots of rain n often muddy looking water!!

Jerry those work good!! I look for cover this time of year!! Any where a bass can blind in!! That can even be a few sticks or stumps or even rocks!! Where they can ambush that prey!!

 

I like to use a Texas Rig Berkley Power Worm to 'pick the bark off' deep laydowns in summer time. (Jerry coined that phrase when he and I fished together and he asked me if I was going to pick all the bark off before we moved, right before I hooked a 4 pounder... been using that phrase ever since). Focus on ones near creek channels and especially if you mark shad balls nearby. Be sure you get that worm down into the deepest branches of the laydown. As soon as you pull it over a branch, let it sink all the way and then repeat. Might have to hit quite a few trees, and spend some time on each, doesn't always produce but when it pays off, it pays off big.

 

Remember at RRR, and the six I got on the Ole Monster worm? If I recall we skinned that tree pretty good.

 

Surf rider!! It's kind of funny! Pick the bark off!!! But that's what it takes to get the job done!! Most people don't know that!! A friend told me one time!! U see red clay bank!! There's all ways fish there!! Old Shadrach pretty smart man! He's the one who told me that!! True to this day!!

 

This year I've been using a tomato worm that's what they call it!! Jeremiah Billy Ray couple others I know college firecracker!! Solid red center clear coat with glitter over!! Now we have crank some good-sized bass then the fat worm! But we use it on a Carolina rig!!and if you don't have any of those worms get some!!

 

I'm at jorden, bass crappy all biting good!! Trying to fish,but have 3 grand kids, wife daughter and son-in-law and my two dogs!! Everybody wants to fish off the boat! But I got a bass boat! So I take 2 with me and we fish for everything!! No choice this time, grandkids go tell

Hot summer nights are for sleeping so you can be on the water at first light the next day and make the most of the topwater bite.

Tomato worms!! It's a fake worm but they call it color tomato!! I've been using them and bass just tire the crap out of them!!!

Lipless cranks, swimbaits, and oversize worms, once the water falls to less than 70 degrees.
All the usual places, with special attention to riprap.
Depth usually 15' or less with good water color.

 

Floating worm in the grass, or weightless Senko around trees. Spinnerbaits.
