I've seen traps in spring and summer in shallow marshes. Usually half way in the water at low tide. The areas I see them in warm months are void of mud minnows. What kind of areas are you finding the traps in cold water?

Same places the guys use them in summer. I've pulled left behind traps up, from around the docks at palm suites in AB for years now. May sound funny, but I know a guy that knows a guy, that targets mud minnows. He says use a strip of raw bacon in the trap.

I see Mud minnows on the flats in mere inches of water this time of year. Most are on the very small size but I would think if you found them as well- just put your trap in that area and wait -15-20 minutes. In the summer- in 15 minutes you'll catch more than you'll use all day. They aren't shy about going in the trap
