Went down to beaufort around the North River Marshes. I got my first slam. Water was 56. Found flounder shallow. 4 to 5 of them. Mostly good keeper size. Got my first slot drum. Took a while but found the trout too. They were in deeper water. Do trout usually keep in different water than drum? I thought it was interesting that flounder and drum would be so shallow but trout deeper.

Nice fish. Ive been meaning to head up that way, hear its a fun area.

this time of year in areas south of you ( which i would assume hold a similar pattern) i find that reds and flounder can be found in both the deep areas mixed in with the trout and shallow areas, but the trout tend to hang in the deep holes and on very sunny day migrate to the edges of the deeper holes or in to any flats 4-5' or deeper around the holes to sun.

Ill pick up flounder working baits slow for trout and the drum will sometimes mix in suspended with them in the holes.
