The weather is getting warm this week, I have my options open and can go anywhere from Nags Head to Sunset Beach. I have a new surf reel I am dying to try out and I want to break my 0 for 2008 streak. Just point me to any area that is reporting fish and I will be there.

Never can tell what is happening in the surf zones. If the weather warms you might want to soak some drum bait and see if one wants to play. Might want another rig with shrimp in case some mullet might be infiltrating into the coastal waters.

What is meant by "soak some drum bait"" I'm new at this fishing thing. I read all these posts and must say I am getting a great education...soon I'll be able to stand on the end of the pier and pretend I know what I'm doing.. at least until I cast

Soaking bait = setting out your lines with fresh bait and waiting for the ZIINNGGGGG of a nice big bite!!!!

I have been pretend fishing tonight and it was pretty good, I was pulling out blues, drum and whiting out of my neighbor's yard until he let his dog out and it started to chase the fish.

I need the weekend to get here.

You should have broke out the cast net and caught some grass shrimp. The fish like fresh bait better that lures.

I caught some the other day, didn't get a chance to use em and they died.

My wife is ok with the pretend fishing until I start cleaning my catch. She says I get the scales all over the place and I don't clean them up.

I got shut out again today. I am still 0-2008. Cape Lookout next weekend I have got to end this drought. At this point I am not sure I should invest in any more hooks.

They were catching some mullet up this way. Maybe you'll have better luck next week.

Might want to check out the shad fishing. Went to Kinston ramp and they were kiliing em all morning. Talked to one boat and they caught 40.

when they are running good its nothing to catch a lot of fish, if you are in the right hole.

I headed out to north topsail this past week for my spring break to just relax and do a lot of fishing. I caught a cooler full of mullets the first evening and after that just started throwing em back. Also caught about 50 stingrays/skates along with a few dogfish
