I decided to go Jitterbugging at twilight this evening.

About the 5th cast, I let the 'bug sit to rest like usual. I have a something from about 3' away crash the Jitterbug very aggressively, maybe 8 seconds after it hits the water, strong runs, decent speed, no jumps, I'm thinking big Bass.....

12 minutes or so later, this is what shows up to be released......

Go figure, best fish fight of the year for me......:)

It's a Grass Carp, that gave a very good account of it's self. I would have never thought one would hit so aggressively, but this one did.... Water Underwater Fin Fish Marine biology

Sweet! Thanks for posting.
I always cast to them a couple times in case they do decide to hit. The couple I ve caught fought hard. Sounds like you had a blast.
What kind of line were you using?

When I target Grassies I have the best results floating bread on a bare hook. A bad cast, and they scatter....
Strange to have one crash a top water bait like this one did....

Nice fish in your avatar, BTW....

Caught a 13 pound carp on a shakey head jig with a trick worm at Badin last year. Set the hook and thought I'd hooked a torpedo the way it launched for deeper water. Strong fish.

Nice job on the catch, odd way to catch it but that's really cool
