I said in my report yesterday that today I would try for some Crappie. Had a blast! Filled up my stringer with nice ones and called it a day. Also caught a largemouth and a few nice bream. All caught on artificials. They didn't seem to care what color I used as long as it was chartreuse. Lol actually the only color I tried. It's a shame but I never saw another fisherman.

Nice! what technique did you use and how deep????

Vertical jigging laydowns. Was fishing in average depth of 15 feet and I would say the fish were holding 2/3rds of the way to the bottom maybe?

Thanks for the reply! I assume to do what you done requires a depth finder? I have a Coosa and am wanting to get a depth finder so bad to do what you are doing. If you do what kind do you have?

It helps. You could still catch fish without tho if you can see structure and the water is deep enough. I have a hummingbird piranha max 175.

I slow troll cheap jigs to find fish/structure without electronics. Electronics are the best option. But if you don't have them, get one of those soft plastics panfish kits from the discount store and use them to probe unknown areas where you might lose things.

I use cheap enough tackle crappie fishing I can lose a ton in a day and be out maybe 2 bucks. I buy the cheap arkie 1/16th oz jigs from walmart and little panfish size soft plastics are cheap.
