OK Fellas - I'm thinking about trying kite fishing this year. Never done it before so I need some help getting started. I hear its great for live bait fishing which I really enjoy. All advice or tips are welcome!

Thanks, yeah I had forgotten about that thread. I'm hoping for some advice and tips from folks that have used kites from a boat offshore. Things like what type rod and which reel do they use, line type, brand and model of fishing kites (ones that fly when wet), attachment hardware, rings or no rings, etc. Also things like drifting techniques (sea anchor or not), baits used, favored winds, etc.
I'll try to call his attention over here... Coach K has done some research into how much wind (or boat movement relative to the surrounding air) is needed for a particular kite, and how much weight it can carry, and how high it will fly, and all that kind of stuff... (He challenges his students to weighlifting contests -- there's a fun one for ya, CoachD)
TA,

Did you ever try kite fishing?

I was thinking of giving kite fishing a try especially with gas prices being what they are. Did you buy a kite yet? I've been looking at AFTCO and Captain Harry's Tackle kites but would like to build one if thats possible.

Any advice?

Thanks,
- Alex
