Got to Lake James around 7:00 Sunday, and promptly deposited the truck keys in the drink off the very end of the ramp. Spent an hour or so diving down in 10-12 foot water trying to get our hands on them, but had no luck. Tried a drop magnet as well, and still nothing. Knew it would be the afternoon before anyone could bring a spare from Asheville, so attempted to make the best of the situation and do some fishing before the Father's Day crowd came out in force. Began the day with topwaters on main lake humps and wasn't disappointed. Between throwing at breaking fish and blind casting the drop off edges, we managed 8-10 decent fish in about an hour, with 1 largemouth that went 4 lbs on the boga grip (60 lb boga so not sure how accurate it is at lighter weights). Somewhat surprisingly the largemouth was busting shad with a couple of smallmouth. Ended the day with some small largemouth and smallmouths off points and up in coves trying to escape the crowd, have never seen the landing as crowded as it was around 3:00 when we were rescued by a good friend who brought a spare key to us.
