Drug the boat all the way to toho last sunday. Went out with great anticipation on Monday. Came home on Wednesday mad!
I get to toho and low and behold the FLW tour is holding a tourny. Over 250 pimped out bass boats jetting around the pond at 90mph. Every cove I went into there was a Cheetos boat or a Viagra boat or a Purolator boat flipping plastics into the weed choked water. That puddle of swamp water has so much hydrilla in it i never saw the lake bottom in two days of fishing. I only caught two bass on top water and they were the size of the shiners they use to catch the big ones. Which, by the way, is the only way you can catch them. I ended up just trying to catch some crappie or bluegills and I never got a nibble, peck, or a bite. They can have toho I`m sticking to Tillery or Townsend. Never again I tell you, never again. I bid you all good fishing...........in gods country........N.C.

Sorry kthomas, the wife and I had a military bass tournament down there a couple of years ago and I was very impressed with the fisherie. I believe it was in very late April so it was hot all day I do know that lol. As for the LMB, we caught plentiful amounts of them all throughout the tournament and practice days. I know I would love to go back there again, but if we do we probably will try Kissimmee this time.

but sorry again for your experiance there, wish it would have been better for you.

Chalk one up for for "that stinks".

Makes you think that the good bass guys must be really good to catch fish in crowds like that. Not to mention the traveling, different waters & conditions, etc... Still hate to see 100s of them massing as you're plopping your own boat into the water. I suppose way worse for a long distance trip that you had hundreds of miles of looking forward to.

I guess "Welcome home" and "sorry for a spoiled trip" is about the best we can offer.

See when we were there they lowered the lake about 4 feet for the expected hurricane season so that made the lake a lot smaller as to where you could fish. We were fishing the out edges of the kissimmee grass and usually one band of grass in. Usually in about 2-5 feet of water. We were throwing 10" Junebug Worms t-rig, Green Candy colored Flukes (green with purple flakes) weightless, and green white double willow spinnerbaits.

I imagine this time of season the fish are working towards there post spawn pattern, could be wrong but I know they usually say they spawn in mid-late Feb.

The fishing must be good if a tourney that size is on the water. Maybe next time check the tourney schedules and make sure they are not goint to be on your water.:p

We go down to Dunnellon at least once a year. The Withlacoochi River downstream from Dunnellon is beautiful and supposed to be one of the best bass fishing areas in the state. Take a look on Google earth just west of Dunnellon, you'll see even from an aerial picture that it in a bassfisherman's "Mecca". It's shallow, weedy, and clear. Worms with no weights are recommended if you don't use live bait. We stay at the Dinnerbell motel (nothing fancy), it's about 150 yards from the ramp. There's also one of the best Mexican Rest. I've visited within walking distance...muy bueno! Get there early or you'll wait.
Don't give up on Florida, there's too much great water to be written off.
By the way, some areas require that only reusable drink containers can be carried on-board a boat (cuts down on litter). It's enforced and violations are several hundred bucks. The Rainbow River in Dunnellon is one of those rivers.
