Down in Indian Beach with the family. Didn't bring the boat. Anybody know some places along the sound or creeks where we could fish from land for pups?

The only place around there would be fort Macon, the AB bridge, and the public dock at Radio Island that I know of.

Come across the bridge to Cedar Point and continue a couple of miles to the bridge over Mill Creek. Park safely. There are usually some red and black drum around the bridge. Use a Carolina rig and fresh shrimp. If you turn right on Hwy. 24 and continue about 9-10 miles, you'll come to Broad Creek and then Gales Creek. Again, park safely. Using the same rig and bait, there are usually some fish (flounder, black and red drum, specks) available fishing off the rocks below the bridge. Try a 1/8th oz. jighead with a Gulp shrimp, too.

The EI boat ramp (click) has a trail and right down around the canal mouth some are caught. Not that many spots and well known, but might be the closest thing. Zoom in and you can see the trail pretty clearly.

Awesome guys! Thanks for the info!

Steve, Gales Creek is directly across the sound from where we have our place. I think that will be the ticket.

Before you cross the ditch to Gales creek, hang a slight left and fish the back side of the little islands (the ones on your side of the ICW, just before the ICW). There are some nice grassy flats that I caught some nice fish on last year. Nice area for flounder to....
Phil,

I think he will be crossing in his car a few miles away; he is looking for that elusive bank fishing spot on Bogue. My wife and kids love EI and AB, so I have been searching for it also. I suggested the boat ramp because it is close and it's one of those "you never know" spots if you fish the channel at the canal mouth, but if I were driving from there and was willing to spend the time it will take to go all the way around to Gales, I would choose to drive to Fort Macon instead. There are just so many different choices of fishing at Ft Macon - sound, cut, jetty and surf - all within a few hundred yards. The only downside is that it is no secret. But a weekday in a non summer month it will likely have plenty of open spots.

If you are still around Saturday, we can hop in the boat and get some c-mullet. I'm right on the ICW across from emerald isle.

Tried Gales and Broad, but they were pretty heavily posted with "no trespassing" and "no parking" signs, so we ended up at the EI boat ramp. The skunk was on, but we had a nice father and son morning.

Really need to to get my boat down here!
I sent you a little info in a pm that might fix that parking problem and hopefully help you out a little
