I've been meaning to hit some smaller water near home next time I'm back and was wondering if anyone had any of the tributaries of the Yadkin around Forsyth, Davie and Yadkin counties.

I've heard Salem Creek is extremely polluted but was wondering if Muddy Creek is fishable up stream from where the two meet. Deep Creek, the South Yadkin, and Forbush Creek are a few others I've been wondering about. I'm always looking for water ~20 minutes from home that I can fish. Thanks.

Muddy Creek just below Idols dam is pretty shallow at normal water levels. In the Spring with higher levels the fishing can be good for Catfish and White Bass, and the occasional Hybrid. Once you get past June, it is generally OK for pan fishing (mostly Bream). If high water flushes it out anytime during the year, the fishing can be pretty good until it fills again. It used to get a lot of "obstacles" in the form of washed in wood, that may have changed. Be aware there is no shortage of snakes.

I was thinking of putting in around the greenway at Meadowlark Middle school, which is pretty far upstream. I saw a guy fly fishing in there once I think. By what you're saying it may not been that good that far up, though. Access seems like it might be an issue.

There are numbers of fish to be caught, just don't expect giants after June. Scale down and have fun. Access to just about any smaller streams in Forsyth seems to be challenging, if you want to fish any distance.

Yeah I've noticed. I think Muddy Creek at Washington Park of the Meadowlark Greenway may be my ticket though, looking at google maps. I think access to Deep Creek and Forbush Creek in Yadkin county might be a little easier.
