First I would like to say thank you to everybody in charge of the event and everybody who volunteered their time saturday. Scott you do an amazing job of putting this thing together and I am honored to be able to come and help. Congratulations on your healthy first grand child. Weather was sporty out in the stream but in general every boat that came in saw some degree of success. Cleaned at least 100 mahi, dozens and dozens of spanish, good numbers of flounder, and a variety of bottom critters and had a blast doing it. My dad joined me this year and was a huge help in bagging and distributing fish as well as joining in on the cutting party when the boats started stacking up and things got hectic. I'd consider this year another massive success The family boat rides and fishing trips seemed like an awesome idea and I'm sure Island Man had a ton of fun doing that. Wish I had more time to talk to you saturday bud but had my plate a little full.. Just awesome stuff.
Stayed the night with SteveF (thanks again) and today we decided we would do a little fishing if we could. Wind was just a howling but I'm glad we stuck it out. Caught 18 flounder with 4 keepers in the mix doing some low stress relaxing drift fishing on the inside. I'm a notoriously bad flounder fisherman and this was easily more than I'd ever caught in a day, but the fish were truly a bonus. Great company and just an awesome time enjoying the moment. I looked forward to this weekend since my first mad event last year and it did not disappoint. Easily one of my favorite weekends of the year. Once again thank you to everybody who donated time, money, and effort to this great cause, and I strongly encourage anybody who can help at future events join in. Incredibly rewarding experience.
