Hello people.
My wife and are have finally moved to NC (Kure Beach) to an apartment until we find a house in the Wilmington area. I registered here last year in hopes of leaning a few things about fishing from the surf being thats all I did while I was living in NJ.
Of course, 570 miles of ocean later the species of fish change.
My normal bait of Clam and Bunker chunks no longer apply here.
I've already bought a season beach pass to Freeman Park in Carolina Beach and I'm itchen to wet a line.
What, if ANYTHING can be caught from the beach now?
And even if the fish are not running, what type of rig and bait would I use to catch the fish that ARE here when it warms up?
I know all about Fluke from the wash and have had no trouble catching them from the surf in NJ. I'm more intersted in what OTHER species I can nail from the beach such as King Mackerel.
I have 20 lb test power pro on my surf reels now for better distance casting. Will that line be sufficent for the NC surf?
