Major Tackle Monkey Attack Repelled !!

4522 Views 26 Replies 14 Participants Last post by  sinker man
Yesterday was my birthday, so today the Good Wife took me down to Concord to the Bass Pro Shop to shop my birthday gift. I"ll swear this place has more fishing outfits than I own. After over 2 hrs. in there, I became so confused  at the massive displays that I just bought a new landing net and about a quarter mile of Power Pro line and then checked out. I thought everyone would like to know how disciplined I was in the face of such overwhelming odds.

I've only been there twice and have spent about 4 hours each time, just looking. A friend told me it was a really nice store that had clothes and hunting stuff too. I never made it farther than the reel display cases.

I'll agree, it IS a nice store with clothes and stuff. My wife found all that stuff while I was lost at the Marine counter drueling over all those great electronics. Unfortunately, I am not as disciplined as you, I had to get a new Humminbird:eek:
I've been there once. Just before the coca cola 600.
Walked backwards out of the store and beyond the boats.
Almost late for the race!
Wow,, only 2 hours??? Your slippin Forrest! :)

Same here, my son's got me a BPS gift card for my birthday yesterday.. So, since my littlest guy doesnt have a tackle box yet.. I'll probably spend it on a tackle box. To show my appreciation to my oldest,, I'm gonna let capt the boat up at Jordan tommorrow.

My opion is you probably were overwhelmed with choices.. and probably was good ya were only in there for the time you were! ;)
My wife forbids me to go to any stores like that!:(
What's that sayin?? it's easier to get forgiveness than beg permission?? :) :)
It's hard to lie to her about these things. I always slip up. "Honey, what is this receipt to Bass Pro Shop for $500?".
There is a little furry friend in all of us. The tackle monkey.. ... ...... ..

The syntax is: It is easier to ask for forgivness than beg for permission.

A few sales folks I worked with over the years liked to substitute the word "better" for the word "easier"....

I wont lie to her... once it's done it's done.

"well cant you take it back?"... well, not really,, it's already mounted on a rod and spooled up.. they'll charge a restocking fee and I'd of wasted $30 worth of line if I have to take the line off.. plus I bought it like 4 weeks ago and we've used it 5 times already...

I eventually end up payin for it wife wise one way or another, but it's worth it in the long run... she knows if I couldnt hunt or fish, I'd have to stay home and spend time with her ;) :D

Lew's Tackle down in Havelock has the ideal setup to disguise the tackle monkey purchases. He has an Asian eatery and food supply adjoining his tackle shop. Buy tackle in the fishing tackle dept-- check out through the food dept. Buy loads of fishing tackle--have sales ticket to list-- wok, rice, soy sauce, etc:D Lew-- this sounds like a plan to me. Surely, our wives don't want us to go hungry.

That is pretty good. I might be able to pull that off. She knows how much I like Asian food:D
But how you gonna explain a $1000 reciept for asian food??:D
1-55 gal. drum soy sauce, 1/2 ton rice and 2 woks.:D

When I go to BPS my wife starts to pray (Oh god please not again.) and it's about the same with me when she goes into J.C.Penney.
