I know we dont fish for them but I thought that everyone would see this if I posted it here. Forgive me that this is not a report. It is a suggestion. Menhaden are the forage of many of our beloved game species. Their numbers are near an all time low. They have been described as the liver of the Ocean and "a few thousand of them can purify 1,260,000 gallons of seawater an hour." They are harvested commercially for oil, cattle feed, and other uses. They are disappearing fast and we need to save this forage fish. I would like to urge everyone to look into it at WWW.menhadenmatter.org and WWW.ASMFC.org. The future of our sport depends on it. Let's face it. Eradicating a species that is a major link in the marine food chain isn't very wise. Please join me and get involved. Thanks!
